Situated ideally on a slope nearby the Tiger’s Nest, Oselgang Monastery exudes a sense of complete peace and harmony as you approach its premises. This beautiful 17th century Monastery was built by Drubthop Jamba Gyeltshen, the elder brother of Gyalsey Tenzin Rabgye.
Oselgang Monastery functions as a meditation center for monks from Paro Rinpung Dzong and currently has 12 monks undergoing retreat at the Monastery premises. The monastery houses rare sacred statues and artifacts including a lifelike statue of Guru Padmasambhava in the main shrine room.
The name Oselgang (the clear rays hill) is believed to have been derived from the reflected rays from a lake that once existed below the Monastery.
