The Royal Bhutan Helicopter Services (RBHS) began operations in November 2015. When it took to the Bhutanese sky for the first time wearing the national colours, it was a proud moment for a nation and its people; some of whom have only seen the occasional Indian Air Force helicopter flying overhead.
Marking a new era in Bhutan’s transportation chapter and medical history, the helicopter service has airlifted a number of patients from inaccessible remote corners of Bhutan to the capital city, boosted the transportation sector, actively participated in fire fighting missions and provided tourists with a window to see landscapes and places never seen before.
RBHS was established on November 11, 2015 to commemorate the 60th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, King Jigme Singye Wangchuck. RBHS presently owns two H130 Helicopters.
