Zangdopelri Lhakhang

Kanglung is a beautiful hill station situated 22km away from Trashigang, along the east-west highway, towards Samdrupjongkhar. Here stands the beautiful Kanglung Zangdopelri Lhakhang, a magnificent gem in the rich cultural heritage of eastern Bhutan.

Built in the early 1970’s, the lhakhang also functions as a monastic school for student monks and houses some intricately designed sacred statues and amazing traditional artwork. Proposed by the late Minister for Home and Cultural Affairs, Tamzhing Jagar, the lhakhang is situated adjacent to the renowned Kanglung College.

Kanglung, a gewog in the eastern district of Trashigang, is located on a gentle slope surrounded by towering mountains with altitudes ranging between 550m to 3700m.
