Kunzang Zhing — or “Field of Eternal Virtue” — has awesome views over the rice paddy fields of fertile Punakha valley and the Puna Tshang Chhu river that drains it. The resort has a contemporary design (it opened in 2015) and fuses traditional architecture with impressive stonework crafted by local stonemasons using materials from the area. Its location about 4.5 km outside of Punakha town gives the property a feeling of remove from the district capital's relative bustle — which their guest services accentuate by striving to create an ambiance of warmth and serenity.
The resort has courtyards and gardens, jogging and walking paths, a library and handicrafts shop, and a patio with an outdoor fireplace. The front desk is available 24 hours, and the staff is happy to provide assistance in planning excursions in the area.
Guest rooms, available in Luxury, Suite, and Executive Suite categories, feature contemporary décor with a simple elegance. All rooms have flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, sitting areas, private balconies, en suite bathrooms with modern fixtures, extras like bathrobes and room slippers and toiletries, free wifi, in-room safe deposit boxes, minibars, complimentary tea/coffee and drinking water, and room/laundry service. Suites and Executive Suites have living areas, private patios, air conditioning, and complimentary fruits and chocolates. Executive Suites also have separate dining areas, a second flat-screen TV, and 2 DVD players.
KuiZine Restaurant & Bar serves authentic Bhutanese food made using homemade recipes, served either a la carte or from set menus, as well as Continental, Chinese and Indian dishes. KuiZine Patio & Outdoor Bar is a great place to enjoy a day-ending drink while taking in the majesty of the mountains rising close by. The resort Conference Hall has a 40+ person capacity, and a full service business center with free wifi is available for guest use.
