Gangtey Palace Hotel
རི་བོ་ཇིཀྲུ་ཌེཀA unique property in Bhutan, this hotel is the converted Governor’s residence. A blend of old and new, the rooms in the outer structure are spacious, tastefully decorated and still exhibit some of the old methods of construction such as windows set into 2 foot thick pressed mud walls. The bathrooms are modern and have excellent water pressure and supply of hot water. The tower rooms are immense and decorated with traditional Bhutanese artifacts that harken back to a different era. The top floor of the tower is an altar room filled with unique religious pieces and an incredible energy – it is not to be missed. Ask at the front desk for entrance. The newly renovated hot stone bath complex is in itself a reason to stay here. There is nothing better than relaxing after a trip to Tiger’s Nest in a traditional hot stone bath from which you can see the stars. To prepare the bath requires a minimum of 3 hours notice. The property has an amazing view of Paro town and the Paro Dzong, which is particularly beautiful at night from the large grassy lawn at the front of the property or the new restaurant complex, also an excellent space for functions. Includes wifi.
